Jen and Andy met in 2009 while studying at Evergreen State College. Andy thought Jen was pretty, though professed she was “too smiley”. Eventually, he acclimated to her whimsy and during their semester abroad to India to study classical dance, their relationship escalated in a manner not too different from a Bollywood movie.
Andy’s mom offered him his great-grandmother’s ring and Andy honored Jen’s desire to not have a public or embarrassing proposal. He proposed, after getting approval from all parental units, by means of newly adopted kittens… and they went on to plan their life, er, wedding in the most simplistic way possible, being surrounded by those that loved them – in a style reflective of their being.
Jen had her dress made from a vintage pattern in a pink silk fabric, and Andy’s highlights were matching socks and ties. Their wedding party was comprised of their family and friends alike, and there were so many fun touches that were hand-crafted in honor of their love…. from teeny, tiny, origami stars to an elaborate and colorful origami crane chandelier, to baker friends European buttercream cake, to fantastic friend/DJ Aman spinning beats that he knew the boys and girls, young and old could get down to.
A day turned to night, with a beautiful New Moon Sunset over the Rainbow Bridge in La Conner, WA, it was a day which was deeply personal and truly reflective of the love of these two.
