Rebecca Mullins, CCO of Studio Saudade, a studio that implements design for love and loss. Her mission, her process, her practice, her product can be a difficult thing to understand. The plight of Studio Saudade is not uncommon in that regard, hence the value of business lifestyle photography, or Personal Brand Photography. We were able to meet with her, understand her love for print, learn her method of creating design . . . from color, to typography, to texture of paper, to commemorate a person or entity. She wanted to communicate the thought, consideration, the art of her design. We wanted to see her in action to help her convey this message.
We journeyed to her studio in La Connor, WA. It was beautifully lit and housed stunning proving machinery for letter pressing which served the early days of Seattle Times. Her studio space was a photographers dream. Industrial print machinery, shelves and cabinets of print blocks, catalogues of paper, tools, etc.
The mission of Studio Saudade spoke to our hearts. Our desire of this three hour long Business : Lifestyle : Elevate Session was beyond providing Rebecca with imagery for her website and social media. We wanted to convey her spirit and her passion that is poured directly into Studio Saudade and every step of the outlying products and process. From mixing ink to capture the emotion of the subject, to cutting paper to fit, to rolling the press, to creating a booklet. I think we did it.
