As we continue to highlight badass Seattle Event Professionals, today – it’s Madrés Kitchen, a fabulous woman-owned, LBGTQA+ allied, GSBA player and masters at crafting food-things from farm to table. This catering company is down right remarkable. They JUST celebrated 15 years in business and threw themselves a Quinceañera – complete with a magician, karaoke, delicious food, and their extended family and friends that ate, drank and danced the night away. We were honored to be there to document their fabulousness and give air-high fives…. more of that in another blog post coming soon.
Just days after their Quinceañera, all events were called to a halt to protect our community from the spread of Covid19. It was a hit and a shock, for sure… however, these folks did what they do best. They had the feelings, they had the brainstorms and they continue to innovate. They were most concerned about taking care of their employees and the more marginalized folks they are connected to in life, love and in business. They moved from event catering to prepping meals for curb-side, at distance pick up. Feed your body and soul with authentic recipes made with farm fresh, local ingredients. This action allows for a few employees to stay at the full-time status, and they are able to intentionally over produce to provide balanced meals for their employees that had to be laid-off temporarily (love) and then also provide donated meals to El Centro de la Raza and Casa Latina Seattle . Even when their doors have to close for this moment- the question they still ask is how they can be of service, how they can bring joy, how they can support those who may need it most.
