Seattle in-home + neighborhood candid family photography session
One of our favorite things is to witness love grow. And this being one of the first blogs I’m writing after being back from Nepal, I’m feeling deeply nostalgic. I know we’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again and again: It’s a place of honor to be able to hang out with really cool individuals, and then watching them grow into really cool families, that over the years will undoubtedly become increasingly dynamic. Being able to step into the here and now, to help time stand still for just a moment is something we absolutely treasure.
We first met Colin and Lynne through a referral of my hair stylist and small business owner Jen, at Pinup Salon . They booked us for their wedding on Vashon Island at Froggsong Gardens, and selected a Collection with a program which gifts an annual session.
That was then… two brilliant, beautiful and fun souls, saying their “I dos”; surrounded by super-fun family + community that cherished all the little kids enjoying the party. This is now… raising their own two littles, making up a party of 4 on the daily. It’s pretty dang cute.
So we spent an unreasonably warm Fall afternoon in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle. First getting ready and orientated at home, then to a local playground and afterwards, visiting their P-Patch to harvest the last of their tomatoes of the season. During this session, we were able to let the little’s personalities be revealed over time. The shyness faded a smidge from big brother, the smiles kept coming from the little brother, and play was encouraged as both kiddos let their lights shine for us.
Just as the energy was released on the playground, and snack time right around the corner. It seemed reasonable to mosey over to the family’s plot at their P-Patch. The lush green, the fragrant flowers in full bloom, the veggies being ready for the picking called us in for the next part of our family lifestyle session.
To have a place that fosters community, grows food, and then has flowers for the picking – including a children’s garden – is really practical, with a bit of whimsy. We love when we can provide the perfect family image for the mantle or holiday card in a place that defines the age and stage our clients are currently breathing in. To pair these images with both funny, magical stories and potential core memories for the children… it is real sweet for us.
Thank you, Lynne and Colin for inviting us in to your lives, allowing us to get to know your children. Thank you, for also sharing yourselves with us as the same cool people you were when you were married, and now as parents. Watching you support these littles as they grow into creative, kind and tiny humans of the world is exciting. Witnessing you also honor, respect and loving each other as partners is affirming. The world is lucky to have your kind of love, raising these lovely humans.
We can hardly wait til next year.
